Swimming at the Manurewa Aquatic Centre.
Darius and Manaaki
The Foundation was set up by John Walker to encourage children to follow their sporting dreams. For our Manurewa Central children this means 7 swimming lessons over the next 7 weeks. They're thrilled!
The children are assessed by the instructors and put into 3 ability groups. The groups are small and the children progress rapidly under the guidance and expertise of the swim instructors.

Writing - adding detail
The children are encouraged to proof-read and re-craft their writing after they've finished getting their ideas down. Re-crafting is all about the children improving audience interest in their work. They choose at least 2 sentences (depending on the writers ability) to improve. Today they practised adding detail or changing bland words with exciting synonyms (words with a similar meaning) from the thesaurus. Here are some of their little gems.
